Have reality shows lost their brand image?
Besides watching my regular: football, basketball, or baseball games, I will watch (Or DVR) American Idol, Bachelor, Amazing Race, or Kitchen Nightmares. Reality TV has taken over my house and most homes too. With the numerous selections each night and even Realty TV channel available, is Reality TV being watered down? Are those reality shows that once dominated the air now diluted?
If you look at the progress of American Idol going into their 10 season, the thunder has almost gone out. It started off intriguing as contestants competed for a record deal… Seasons 1-4 seemed to be about the performers. Then season 5-8 were about Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, & Randy Jackson interaction among each other (When you say American Idol – Paula Abdul would come to my mind first, then Simon’s harsh but real comments). Recently, its about the judges and less of the performers, which has reduced the amount of viewers and the quality of the show.
Other reality shows like Amazing Race & Survivor seem to have loss their brand image because of the number of shows they air. They will try to grab at celebrities to make appearances, but the show struggles to keep the interest of viewers.
Once the consumer is aware of your brand, maintain its integrity and learn to adapt appropriately according to the viewers interest. You must remind yourselves what had drawn the audience to your product in the first place.

Apple seems pretty predictable
After weeks of speculation and rumors, today Apple Computers launched their upgrades for the MacBook Pros. Apple has updated their HD camera, processor, battery, and graphics.
So with these upgrades to the MacBook Pro, will the other Apple products receive similar upgrades as well? There are rumors for the Apple IPad to have a camera in the near future. Rumors of an iPhone5 are coming out as well, but what features and functions can you expect to see? Do you really need to be the first buyer all the time when Apple launches a new product? It does seem that new features to their computers, will roll into other products during a upgrade product launch.
Here are my recommendations:
– Apple MacBook Pro Computer: Go for it! ( The options you get with the MacBook Pro VS MacBook, I would recommend the Pro version )
– IPad: Wait until the second version comes out but who knows because their are websites reporting of a possible iPad 3 already. Ok?
– IPhone: Wait until the iPhone 5 comes out. I have the iPhone 3GS which has been great. You can get the iPhone 3GS for $49.00 from AT&T which I would say go for it (Even if you have to sign a 2 year agreement)
– ITouch: If you have a child, relative, or etc… that you don’t want touching your iPhone, get the iTouch!
– iShuffle: Great for exercising, road trips, & portable…
As someone who owns many different Apple products, once your an owner there’s no turning back!
Hey Apple, what’s next?

Mobile Applications – The Next Generation
What was your first computer? Mine was a Radio Shack TRS-80 that hooked-up to a cassette player with a 9″ monitor. The computer must of weighed 10 pounds and slow as molasses. Eventually in 1983 I graduated to a Apple IIE with the double disk drive, Green Screen, & the Dot Matrix printer ( The noise going back & fourth to print is embedded in my head). I actually keep that computer through college and in 1992 i bought my first HP desktop computer. The computer was great for managing my home and business work, but I started to notice that every 6 months or so a new processor was being implemented in these computers.
Once Apple revolutionized the MacIntosh computers, everyone was competing to outdo the other. The intrigue factor from computers were gone and along came Mobile phones. The capability of being able to use a telephone anywhere was easier than finding the nearest pay phone to make a call. The functions and ring tones were the important features to sell more phones between Motorola, Blackberry, & Nokia. Then in 2007 saw the evolution of the Apple IPhone which merged the mobile phone and computer “Smart Phone”. Apple, Google, & Blackberry are the 3 major mobile platforms competing for their applications and smart phones being used.
This year Apple introduced the Ipad which has taken the place of caring a laptop. We will see in the next 6 to 18 months the rapid growth of pad computers by Samsung and other computer hardware manufacturers. We are going to see these increase in speed and storage capabilities. This leads into the newest applications for these mobile and IPad/Google customers.

Were in the Billions!
It seems everything today is now valued in the Billions, but for what?
- Zynga – $7 – 9 Billion
- Groupon – $15 – 20 Billion
- Twitter – $8 – 10 Billion
- Facebook – $50 Billion
If you review the patterns of technology and the internet, you will see a 12 – 36 month cycle of interest among hot topics. Myspace.com seemed to have started social media, but with the Facebook & Twitter evolution dominated our current social lives. Are these companies really worth billions? And for how long?
I will believe their success can only continue based upon their branding. Apple has been the leaders of Branding in the 2000′s which is why the iPhone, iPad, MacBooks, and iPods have been brand-technology brilliant.
